Health & Safety

School Health and Safety for Governors/Trustees

About this event

Governing bodies have the responsibility for overseeing health and safety in their school.

The day-to-day responsibility for managing health and safety can be delegated to the Headteacher, School Business Manager or Site Manager, however, the ultimate accountability and liability remains with the Board.

Sensible and effective management of health and safety relies on every member of the management team making sure risk is managed responsibly and proportionately. In order to maintain strategic oversight it is essential the governing body has excellent communication with the school's SLT, knows what questions to ask and the key documents to review.

During the session we will be looking at:

      • Legal Framework and Responsibilities

      • Risk Assessment
      • Emergency Procedures
    • Health and Wellbeing
