What this course contains

Delegates with learn the basic principles of conducting a panel hearing as a Governor by working through various areas of law including disciplinary, grievance, capability, redundancy, pay and flexible working. Delegates will be given the opportunity to reflect of their role as a member or Chair of a panel and consider how to conduct an effective hearing.

Intended outcomes

Course participants will be able to:

  • Familiarise themselves with the disciplinary, grievance, capability, redundancy, pay and flexible working policies;
  • Understand their role as a member or Chair of a panel;.
  • Familiarise themselves with the requirements of the relevant hearing;
  • Conduct an effective hearing;
  • Ensure a fair decision is reached;
  • Consider the appropriate outcome;
  • Deal with an appeal effectively..

Who this course is for

This course has been developed as an introduction to the conducting panel hearings and is aimed at members of the Governing Body new to the role or with no prior experience of conducting hearings.

The cost

The course costs £475 + VAT

If two three hour courses booked for the same day, the cost is £795 + VAT.

Assessment

To successfully complete the course, participants will be required to pass a short assessment.

CPD

Upon successful completion of the course participants will be issued a CPD accredited certificate. The course equates to 3 hours of CPD.
