What this course contains

Attendees will learn the basic principles of positive and effective staff appraisal in Schools and will be given an opportunity to reflect on how to get the best out of the appraisal process. The course content and training materials will provide an overview of setting SMART targets for a variety of school-based staff and will inform attendees on how to give effective and constructive feedback. The course will also set out the fundamental basics involved in conducting an interim or end of year review with a focus on avoiding common pitfalls.

Intended outcomes

Course participants will be able to:

  • Familiarise themselves with the elements of an effective appraisal system
  • Learn how to give effective feedback
  • Construct and develop SMART targets
  • Learn how to conduct an effective interim review
  • Learn how to conduct a Year End Review
  • Recognise common pitfalls when managing performance
  • Recognise when to move to formal capability

Who is this course for

This course is specifically aimed at aspiring and newly appointed Line Managers and newly appointed School Business Managers, who have no previous experience of the Performance Management Cycle within the context of a school environment.

The cost

The course costs £475 + VAT and can be delivered on site to up to 10 delegates

If two three hour courses booked for the same day, the cost is £795 + VAT.

Assessment

To successfully complete the course, attendees will be required to pass a short assessment.

CPD

Upon successful completion of the course attendees will be issued a CPD accredited certificate. The course equates to 3 hours of CPD.
