How to Support Pregnant Employees Throughout the Year
While most employers state it’s in their interest to support pregnant staff members, a research report commissioned by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) and the Equality and Human Rights Commission has showed this is not always put into practice.
One in five mothers said they had experienced harassment or negative comments related to pregnancy or flexible working from their employer and /or colleagues while 10% were discouraged from attending antenatal appointments.
With such surprising statistics it is vital schools know their pregnant staff’s entitlements and how to support them throughout the year.
During the session we will be covering the following:
- The rights of pregnant employees.
- Your rights as an employer to manage sickness, performance and capability concerns during pregnancy.
- When you can commence maternity leave automatically.
