Safeguarding in schools means protecting children from harm and promoting their safety and wellbeing. It covers the policies, procedures and day-to-day practices schools use to prevent harm, identify concerns and respond appropriately.
This includes child protection, safer recruitment, staff training, online safety, and other areas that help keep children safe.
Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility, with the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) taking the lead in overseeing the school's safeguarding arrangements.
