KCSIE 2026: What’s New, What Matters, and What This Means for Schools
A safeguarding audit gives your school or trust an independent review of its safeguarding arrangements, allowing you to identify gaps and areas for improvement across key areas of school safeguarding.
The review offers leaders a clear picture of where arrangements are working well and where further action may be needed, helping you keep your approach up to date and support ongoing compliance.
Schools should review their safeguarding arrangements regularly to make sure they remain effective and reflect current guidance and practice.
Reviews should also take place when there are significant changes to guidance, staffing or the school's circumstances, or following a safeguarding concern or incident.
A safeguarding audit can provide an independent check of your arrangements and help identify areas that need further attention.
External safeguarding support can provide an independent perspective on your school's current arrangements, helping to identify anything that may have been missed. It can also be helpful when DSLs or school leaders need advice on a particular concern or want to sense-check their current practice.
Judicium provides schools and trusts with practical safeguarding advice and support, alongside audits and training.
The Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) should have safeguarding training as outlined in Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE), with DSLs and their deputies completing training at least every two years.
All staff should receive safeguarding training and regular updates, so they understand their responsibilities and know how to respond to concerns. Governors and trustees should also receive safeguarding training relevant to their role. Our safeguarding audit for schools can review your approach to safeguarding training and identify any areas that need attention.
