Insights on the Sofa - Reviewing our Safeguarding client survey
Join us on the sofa for a session exploring key findings from our recent Judicium safeguarding survey. The session is designed to give Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs), Senior Leaders, MAT leads and safeguarding professionals practical insights and strategies to strengthen their practice.
We will explore three central themes that emerged strongly from the survey responses:
During the session we will be covering the following:
-
-
- DSL Stress and Overwhelm – Understanding the pressures faced by safeguarding leads, exploring practical ways to manage workload, prioritise effectively, and access the right support.
- Working with Multi-Agency Partners – Reflecting on the challenges and opportunities of partnership working, with tips on improving collaboration, communication, and confidence when navigating complex processes.
- Building Positive Relationships with Parents – Sharing approaches to foster trust and openness with parents, manage difficult conversations, and create a supportive environment that puts the child at the centre.
-
This interactive session will provide practical takeaways, space for reflection, and the opportunity to share experiences with peers facing similar challenges.
Key takeaways:
-
- Strategies to manage the pressures and responsibilities of the DSL role.
- Practical tools for effective collaboration with multi-agency partners.
- Approaches for building strong, positive relationships with parents.
Joanne Bocko
Joanne has a wide range of safeguarding experience which allows her to understand the differences between schools and the challenges they face. Starting as a primary school teacher, her compassion for those in need led to a move to Police Staff and eventually working in the cybercrime team supporting schools and students with online safety issues. She headed up campaigns for online offences and appeared on the BBC and Radio One newsbeat. Her passion for schools brought her to the Local Authority, where, as a Safeguarding in Education Officer, she provided training and support to all schools in her county. Her motto is ‘if it will make life easier and better for schools, I will do it!’
