This CPD accredited 5-hour course equips DSLs and their deputies to fulfil their role in line with statutory guidance and gives practical tips to Safeguarding Leads for their settings.

This course provides learners with the knowledge to understand:

• Mutli-agency responsibilities- including working with key agencies, expectations and escalation.
• Specific needs and harms- covering Annex B of KCSIE
• The overlapping responsibilities and broader remit of the DSL- including the role of the SENDCO, Designated Teacher and Mental Health Lead
• Students with additional vulnerabilities
• How to create a culture of ongoing vigilance- including low-level concerns, allegations and whistleblowing

This session utilises scenarios, activities and case studies to contextualise learning.
