When Allegations Arise – Knowing What to Do, When it Matters Most
Even experienced leaders can feel unsure when allegations arise — that’s why it’s so important to be ready.
Allegations against staff or contractors are rare, but when they happen, the response needs to be calm, confident and compliant. Yet for many schools, this remains an area of uncertainty — especially around what’s expected of the DSL or Headteacher, and where the LADO’s responsibility begins and ends.
This 45-minute session is designed to reduce anxiety, bust common myths, and give you a clear sense of what to do — before you need to do it.
This webinar is ideal for DSLs, Headteachers and Trust Designated Safeguarding Leads.
This practical session will help you to:
- Understand the LADO’s role and what remains the responsibility of the school
- Know what to do when the allegation concerns a supply teacher or contractor
- Clarify your responsibilities when the concern relates to something that happened outside of school
- Know when (and when not) to suspend staff, and how to manage communication
- Feel confident during investigations — what to do and how to document it
- Record outcomes properly and understand when to refer to the DBS or TRA
