Data Protection
Data Protection and Parental Responsibility
With schools holding more data than ever before, parents are more aware about data protection rights. This has brought about more scrutiny and an increase in data requests.
So how can schools build an effective communication partnership with parents and minimise data protection risk?
During the session we will be looking at:
- Parental Responsibility – what does it mean, who has it or how can it be acquired?
- How do family proceedings impact Parental Responsibility and what do we need to look out for on court orders?
- How do parental rights impact on data requests under UK GDPR and requests for education records under education law?
- Other considerations (such as safeguarding) when responding to requests.
