Caught on Camera: Getting CCTV Right in Schools
CCTV in schools can be a valuable tool for capturing information that may otherwise go unnoticed. However, managing its use effectively is crucial to meet compliance requirements such as Subject Access Requests (SARs), audits and Data Protection Impact Assessments. Schools must also ensure CCTV use aligns with legal obligations, including GDPR.
With a High prevalence of CCTV across public and private environments in the UK, its understandable why schools use CCTV as a familiarity and safety measure.
This session will cover:
- The ICO's Perspective: What regulators expect when schools use CCTV.
- When It's Appropriate: Understanding where and when cameras should (and Shouldn't) be used.
- Managing CCTV Effectively: Best Practice for storing footage, access control, and policy upkeep.
