Data Protection

A Guide to Subject Access Requests in 45 mins

About this event

As more people become aware of their data rights, schools and Trusts are seeing an increase in the amount of subject access requests they receive. Whether it’s a SAR from an aggrieved employee or a disgruntled parent, a prompt and effective response is tantamount.

In a recent survey we asked nearly 200 schools if they had received a SAR in the last academic year, and unsurprisingly, 82% said they have.

Our 45-minute guide for all staff covers the most important steps to subject access requests and understanding the process.

During the session we will be looking at:

    • Recognising a request.
    • Steps to take once a request is received.
    • When can a request be refused?

Let us introduce you to this week's professional speaker

Laura Butler

Laura is originally from New Zealand and has a bachelor’s degree from Victoria University, Wellington. She moved to the UK four years ago and her first job in the UK was in a secondary school setting, which enabled her to understand Data Protection from a school’s point of view. When she is not helping with queries and carrying out audits, Laura loves to keep active by playing netball for a few teams in her local area and loves spending time with friends and family.
