Data Protection

Utilising the Department for Education Toolkit for Schools

About this event

It has been five years since the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into force. As time progressed, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) has taken a firmer approach on ensuring schools comply.

With that in mind, The Department for Education have released a data protection in schools toolkit.

Join us as we take you through the toolkit and share our tips for meeting the recommendations.

During the session we will be looking at:

    • Understanding how to comply with data protection law
    • Developing data policies and processes
    • Knowing what staff and pupil data to keep
    • Good practices for preventing personal data breaches

Let us introduce you to this week's professional speaker

Claire Lockyer

Claire is a qualified teacher who, having witnessed first-hand the amount of conflicting and confusing data protection advice offered to schools, decided to retrain with the aim of focusing on supporting schools. Having previously worked for a company offering both data protection and safeguarding advice to schools, she understands the crossovers first hand and draws on both her teaching and industry experiences to best support our schools with practical advice. In Claire's spare time, she loves playing netball, watching netball and talking about netball (as she lives with four teenage children, she says netball is a much needed escape!)
