As of yesterday, the EU Commission has formally approved the UK as “adequate” meaning that data transferred between the UK and the EU can continue to flow freely.
Whilst this decision had previously been made in principle by the Commission, there was concern that organisations would have to put in place additional measures (such as standard contractual clauses) to allow data to continue to transfer within the EU. This is now no longer the case and the good news is that organisations can continue to use providers who process data within the EU.
It will still be important in future to continue to review third party providers and where they transfer your data, particularly when it is outside the EU.
Audits During Summer
Finally, if you are contracted to work during the summer holidays and could fit in your GDPR audit, please let us know. By setting aside a couple of hours during the holiday it would check your compliance but also provide you with useful knowledge for the new academic year.
Please contact us with dates and times and we will book you in. Remote auditing is preferred. If you want a visit, we will review this on a school by school basis subject to consultant availability and guidelines at the time. Please click here for more information with regards to Judicium's GDPR service for schools.
